What is the Graduate School?

The Graduate School plays a vital role in your academic career. We act as an umbrella organization overseeing graduate programs at Oregon State. We track your degree progress and ensure you meet all requirements before graduating.

Graduate School Orientation

Ecampus students are also required to complete the online orientation. (Requires ONID login.)

New Graduate Student Orientation, along with all Grad Welcome Week activities, is a highlight of our year. It is a crucial step to help incoming students learn about Oregon State and what to expect as you continue your academic journey with us.

Please join us for orientation on Sept. 16 and other Grad Welcome Week events. Visit the Grad Welcome Week website for a full description and agenda of the week's events. If you miss orientation, many sessions will be available on our videos page after the event.

We will send you a link to register for orientation to your OSU email closer to the event.

Important Dates

May 19
Registration for classes opens. Talk to your program about which classes to take and when to register. Registration stays open even after the term starts in case you are waiting for official transcripts. You'll need an ONID account to register. Visit the Registrar's website to learn how to register.

Sept. 16–18
A week before school starts is Grad Welcome Week, a series of activities to get your graduate experience started off right. Your program might also have orientation events around this time. We will email you a link to register closer to orientation.

Sept. 25

Degree Progression and Resources

Required paperwork

Online orientation

Ecampus students are required to take the online orientation for graduate students if they are enrolled for a certificate program or an online degree program.

Student Health Services training

As a graduate student, you are required to take the Voices for Change: Consent and Creating Inclusive Communities trainings. You will receive an email invitation with links to the trainings. Visit the SHS required online programs webpage for more information.

Health insurance

Ecampus students who live within 50 miles of the Corvallis campus can sign up for optional health insurance. Learn more about health insurance.

OSU Grad Advantage

OSU Grad Advantage is a curated set of opportunities to augment your degree by gaining additional vital skills. It's part of OSU’s continued commitment to innovating to support graduate students. In this initial phase, we gathered existing opportunities for you to gain or enhance skills in five core competencies:
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Mentoring, Facilitation and Teaching
  • Writing and Communication
  • Leadership, Management and Professional Development
  • Interpretation and Use of Research
The opportunities range from video tutorials to for-credit courses. Many of the resources are available online. A self-assessment tool will help you identify and prioritize the areas on which to focus. These skills may set you apart from other candidates for your next job.

New Student Raffle

Enter the raffle by telling us about yourself and why you chose Oregon State. A random 10 entries will receive a welcome bag from the Graduate School. Enter by Sept. 6 to be included in the drawing.
 

Services and Resources

Finances

Explore the different types of funding available to graduate students, including assistantships, fellowships and scholarships.

ONID and email

Sign up for ONID. Your ONID account lets you sign into online services at Oregon State, like Canvas and your OSU email account. Plus, you will need it to register for classes.

OSU Mobile

Check your grades, find places to eat, and get bus schedules with the OSU Mobile app, which is available for iOS and Android.

Accommodations

If you have a documented need/accommodation that should be recognized by the university, visit Disability Access Services (DAS).

Military

Active duty service members and veterans should connect with Military and Veteran Resources to learn about benefits.
