When the Coronavirus pandemic emerged, epidemiologists in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences got to work.
Faculty, including our dean, are collaborating with colleagues across the university to conduct community testing of the virus that causes the novel coronavirus so that communities can make informed decisions for the population’s health. You can learn more about the TRACE COVID-19 project on our website.
Sometimes called “disease detectives,” epidemiologists may investigate why and how diseases occur in different groups of people, or how to best prepare and reduce the impact on human health from a natural disaster or climate change.
Epidemiology is foundational to public health and can help shape policy decisions, as well as improve clinical and medical research and preventive care.
In this program, you’ll learn how to use your skills in applied settings and get prepared for doctoral or further professional training from faculty studying a wide variety of factors affecting human health.
