Internships are integrated into your coursework to help you gain hands-on experience and become an effective public health leader.
Tonya Johnson, our full-time internship coordinator, will help you identify a position and complete all the necessary steps.
We have existing partnerships across Oregon, the United States and globe, and if you find an internship we aren’t already partnered with, Tonya can help set it up. Common internship settings include government, hospitals and clinics, non-governmental organizations and corporations.
For example, MPH students pursing the public health practice option have landed internships with the OHSU Community Outreach Research & Evaluation Team and OSU Extension Service. Past projects include:
Engage in community-based research projects, such as an analysis of nutrition, social isolation and loneliness in a rural Oregon community
Conduct community food systems needs assessment
Develop evaluation plan for Healthy schools program
Develop tailored infographics for physical activity education program
