Internships that address real health challenges

Hi [First Name],

Internships are integrated into your coursework to help you gain hands-on experience and become an effective public health leader.

Tonya Johnson, our full-time internship coordinator, will help you identify a position and complete all the necessary steps.

We have existing partnerships across Oregon, the United States and globe, and if you find an internship we aren’t already partnered with, Tonya can help set it up. Common internship settings include government, hospitals and clinics, non-governmental organizations and corporations.

For example, MPH students pursuing the health systems and policy option have landed internships at the OHA Health Systems Division and Upstream Public health. Past projects include:
  • Develop key informant interview guide regarding sugary drink policy initiatives
  • Develop rationale for shifting language around weight and BMI in agency documents/communications to reduce weight stigmatization
  • Develop provider guidance related to Oregon Medicaid fee-for-service reimbursement for community integration services
  • Committee involvement and contributions to OARs for Community-based mobile crisis intervention services

Sincerely,
