Internships that address real health challenges

Hi [First Name],

Internships are integrated into your coursework to help you gain hands-on experience and become an effective public health leader.

Tonya Johnson, our full-time internship coordinator, will help you identify a position and complete all the necessary steps.

We have existing partnerships across Oregon, the United States and globe, and if you find an internship we aren’t already partnered with, Tonya can help set it up. Common internship settings include government, hospitals and clinics, non-governmental organizations and corporations.

For example, MPH students pursuing the environmental and occupational health option have landed internships at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Oregon Health Authority - Environmental Public Health Tracking Program, and TG Structural. Past projects include:
  • Reduction in arsenic drinking water violations
  • Nitrate concentration in residential private drinking water; domestic well safety program analysis
  • Pesticide exposure safety program analysis
  • Job hazard analyses, heat stress protocol development, and safety perceptions survey

Sincerely,
