Use science to plan for and prevent disease and injury
Dear [First Name],
When the coronavirus pandemic emerged, epidemiologists in the College of Health got to work.
Faculty are collaborating with colleagues across the university to conduct community testing of the virus that causes the novel coronavirus so that communities can make informed decisions for the population’s health. Learn more about the TRACE COVID-19 project.
Sometimes called “disease detectives,” epidemiologists may investigate why and how diseases occur in different groups of people, or how to best prepare and reduce the impact on human health from a natural disaster or climate change.
Epidemiology is foundational to public health and can help shape policy decisions, as well as improve clinical and medical research and preventive care. Learn how to use your skills in applied settings and get prepared for doctoral or further professional training from faculty studying a wide variety of factors affecting human health.
“There’s a strong focus on student success in the college and across OSU, which translates to engaging students in research and practice activities. It’s not just something we say. It’s a value.”
