Placement in the Field
Dear [FirstName],
Thank you for your interest in our Master of Arts in Teaching program! OSU-Cascades' nationally accredited graduate teaching program offers the opportunity for pre-service teacher candidates to gain the skills necessary to begin a successful and sustained career in education. The program gives you exceptional in-classroom instruction using a cohort model, where students form strong bonds as they progress through their coursework together. Faculty include teaching practitioners and researchers. With a physical campus and modern classroom buildings, we are the only public university offering a site-based teaching degree in Central Oregon.
The coursework for this program integrates student teaching field placements that allow teacher candidates the opportunity to practice what they learn in the university classroom under the guidance of a master teacher. Placements occur in schools within the local school districts, where OSU-Cascades' graduate teaching program is considered a partner of choice. Learn more about field placements for teacher candidates.
Field Placement Opportunities: We work with six school districts in Central Oregon and your placements may occur in any district. Deschutes County (Bend-La Pine, Redmond, Sisters), Crook County (Prineville, Powell Butte), and Jefferson County (Madras, Culver).
- Multiple Subjects (Grades K-8) Endorsement
Offers teacher candidates placement opportunities at two levels throughout the academic year. Upon obtaining Preliminary Teaching Licensure, teacher candidates gain an endorsement to teach Multiple Subjects in self-contained classrooms at the elementary level in grades K-8.
- Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, and/or Social Studies Endorsements
Offers teacher candidates placement opportunities in middle school (Grades 5-9) and high school (grades 7-12) classrooms throughout the academic year for endorsement(s) in either Social Studies, Language Arts, Mathematics or Science.
The cohort-based program begins in June. Students may choose from the one-year, full-time program or the two-year, part-time program.
We'd love for you to get in touch or schedule an appointment. Learn more about where a degree from Oregon State can take you.
Thank you,
